GROWING EXPOSED SEASON 2 EPISODE 3: Northwest Grown
Youtube description: On this episode of Growing Exposed we take you behind the scenes of Northwest Grown. Northwest Grown is located on a unique century old cattle ranch that has been converted into an indoor marijuana growing facility. Now usually indoor growing facilities aren’t known for being welcoming but this property has been around for five generations and is just beautiful. The picturesque 120-acre hobby farm in Washington State features several red barns and even a stream.
Our resident hydroponics expert, Justin meets Kyle, the cultivation manager at Northwest Grown for a tour around this incredible property and approximately 260 light garden. They begin their tour in the mother room. Here we see not only mothers and cuttings but also seedlings, which will form the future of the garden. Kyle explains they have an entire room dedicated to looking for phenos and how they are always looking for that keeper seed that will set them apart from the other grows in Washington.
Kyle then shows Justin how they flood the baby cuttings to eliminate hand watering and save much needed time and energy. It is a full flood and drain system that supports their big library featuring thirty-six genetics, and thirty-six different mothers.
Next stop is the veg room where we check out their mango stream; an heirloom afghani crossed with an OG based out of Northern California that has been in Kyle’s family for years with a huge terpene profile. It grows like a sativa and is known as a jumper plant. Kyle explains it’s all about the terpene profile. At Northwest Grown they average around 5-7% terpene profiles and Kyle shared that he uses the GP3 Green Planet series and massive bloom formulation to achieve these dynamite results.
GROWING EXPOSED SEASON 2 EPISODE 2: Unlimited Possibilities
Youtube description: On this episode of Growing Exposed, we visit the city of Adelanto located in the high desert of Southern California. Nowadays, Adelanto is thriving as the largest production area of medical cannabis in the United States. However, it didn’t start out that way. Adelanto was in a serious financial crisis a few years ago, and the only thing that saved it from bankruptcy was growing cannabis on the largest scale in the whole nation.
As we begin our tour, the first clue that things are going to be different here in Adelanto is the welcome sign with cannabis leaves on it. Their slogan “The City With Unlimited Possibilities” reads bold and true, as Adelanto is now the most progressive city in the United States when it comes to medical cannabis. They owe everything to it, which would have been unheard of 10 years ago. Here, we meet Economic Developer Jesse Florez. He explains that Adelanto is attracting major industries in the cannabis space to cultivate and develop both volatile and non-volatile extractions right in the city. They’re also really focusing on the storefronts of cannabis sales, also known as dispensaries, nurseries, and embracing the entire cannabis industry as a whole in the city of Adelanto.
Next, Justin, our tourguide, meets with Mayor Rich Kerr to see how cannabis is changing the overall landscape of the city. The Mayor explains that Adelanto is striving to be the forefront of the medical cannabis industry in in the United States and they embrace folks in the cannabis industry and encourage them to come to Adelanto by providing them with brokers for land, inspectors for buildings.
How are the revenues from cannabis helping the city? Mayor Rich Kurr explains that most of the revenues from cannabis are going into infrastructure: repaving roads, sewer, electric, water, and crime has also gone down 12% since Rich took over as mayor in 2014. In 2014, Adelanto was $2.6M in the red, and nearly filed for bankruptcy. With the help of cannabis, the city is now $20-30M in the black and thriving, all because of medical cannabis.
Growing Exposed Season 2 Episode 1: LA Grown Kush
Youtube description: Los Angeles is where people go to make it big, even when it comes to bud. LA is California’s best known and most populated city that continues to drive entertainment, music, fashion, and even cannabis trends for the entire nation. LA’s reputation is earned, as they have been a hub for years, moving large quantities of cannabis to the rest of the country. LA is the hometown of many cannabis celebrities, including legend Cheech Marin, best known for the comedy act Cheech and Chong. You’ll get to hear from Cheech later, alongside director, writer, producer and lead actor James Hutson, about the independant film Dark Harvest and learn why it took Cheech over 30 years to star in another weed movie.
However, if you’re a visitor to the city of Los Angeles, wouldn’t you like to know where the locals shop for their awesome Cali weed? You would probably have a completely different scenario in mind when they tell you “The Bridge”. In reality, it’s not quite what you would expect. Sketchy? Heck no. Sophisticated? Heck yes.
Growing Exposed Season 1 Episode 13 – Trail Blazin’
Youtube description: Today we bring you on a tour of a pesticide free garden, reclaiming 98 percent of their water, and is the only indoor garden we’ve ever featured, that is growing cannabis plants under 100 percent LED lighting fixtures. This Washington state I-502 producer-processor is called Trail Blazin’. Understandably, they are proud of the fact that the cannabis they’re producing is sustainable; this facility is as green as “green” can get
Leading the tour today is Juddy of Trail Blazin’ Productions. Juddy takes you through a couple vegetative rooms, in addition to several of the six “all LED” flowering rooms.
Since we timed our visit perfectly to arrive on harvest day, we also get an introduction to the trim crew, in addition to learning about the procedures they use to process the pounds of dried bud.
Growing Exposed Season 1 Episode 12 – Treedom
Youtube Description: How great would it be to grow the best buds with your best bud? In this episode of Growing Exposed, we take you into a quality growing facility run by childhood friends doing what they love: growing top notch cannabis. You will also learn from the Garden Sage David Robinson why “no small flowers” is key to growing great weed, how to get rebates on your lighting, and how designing the right packaging for your product is one of the most difficult keys to obtain for success–but super rewarding when you get it right.
Right beside a fairly busy crematorium in Bellingham, WA may not seem like the prime location for growing cannabis; the circumstances of its neighbour may even add a veil of eeriness for some visitors. However, this 10,000 square foot facility with a 250 light setup is home to Treedom Productions, ran by Chad and Joe. Growing connoisseur strains such as their Dutch Hawaiian and 9lb Hammer, these friends go into depth over the various time-saving techniques they’ve integrated into their facility.
Growing Exposed Season 1 Ep 11 – Kootenay Craft Cannabis
Youutbe description: This episode, we take you to beautiful British Columbia, Canada, right in the heart of the Kootenays. Since the early 70’s, this pristine, snow-capped mountainous region has been a key player in Canada’s billion dollar Cannabis industry. Resident of Nelson, BC, and host of our Garden Sage segments, David Robinson takes on the title of Garden Tour Guide and shows you around two beautiful craft gardens, while giving some valuable tips about hydroponics retail and the secrets behind breeding cannabis.
If you want to grow in an area with an annual winter snowfall averaging almost 6 feet, you will need a pretty good shelter for your plants; particularly a highly insulated building, like our first garden. In this garden, David shows us around the mother and propagation rooms. Taking control of your destiny in your garden and managing your own genetics is one of the most powerful ways to avoid purchasing “problems”. A lot of times, when gardeners take cuttings from other gardeners, they also receive unintended guests such as disease, pathogens, and pests. By keeping rooms that strictly house “mother” plants, we can keep them in good health, and be responsible for our genetics.
