This is The Inside Story of Cannabidiol about the benefits and physiological effects of CBD on the human body. A couple of years ago a remarkable thing happened when CBD oil became legal in all 50 states. Our hormones that run our endocrine system and our cytokines that run our immune system. So we see that throughout our physiology we have receptors specifically designed to bind with cannabidiol and CBD has its effect on the nucleus of our cells where proteins are being made. Cannabidiol modulates the transcription of over 1100 genes that make the signaling molecules that naturally reduce inflammation in our central nervous system and throughout our immune system. Restoring homeostasis to both our immune and central nervous systems. Bottom line… One of the benefits of cannabidiol is that it causes a cascade of Homeostasis through our entire central nervous system and our entire immune system. Why is this happening? As I mentioned before we have receptors in our body for CBD. This is called the endo-cannabinoid system. Back in medical school we didn’t’t even know about the endo-cannabinoid system. It was discovered in the 1990’s by Dr. Rafael Mechoulan from the Hebrew University in Israel. So the endo-cannabinoid system is a network of cells throughout our body that have receptors for CBD. In fact, there are more receptors for CBD in our body than any other kind of receptor. So the endo-cannabinoid system is truly the largest network of its kind throughout our entire physiology. Among other things Dr. Mechoulam also discovered that we make our own cannabinoids in or body. This is Anandamide and 2AG. Those two are natural cannabinoids that our bodies make and bind to our CBD receptors. Our bodies are filled with CBD receptors. What kind of symptoms what kind of stress do all these things cause to us? If your immune system is inflamed you might be suffering from autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, inflamed bowel disease, lupus and thyroid. Or fibromyalgia or even multiple sclerosis. And you skin, psoriasis and eczema and all sorts of other chronic infections. Do you realize that many of things didn’t even exist 100 or 150 years ago. Incidences of these sorts of diseases is growing throughout the last century. Now lets take a look at your central nervous system. If it is inflamed what types of things might you be suffering from? Brain fog, migraines, epilepsy, anxiety and PTSD, ADD, ADHD, autism and insomnia. Again, 100 or 150 years ago these kinds of symptoms, these kind of diseases where rare. GROWING EXPOSED SEASON 2 EPISODE 4: High Up In Humboldt

We start off with a well-timed aerial tour of Humboldt. When we spoke to our friends at Royal Gold soils they suggested taking to the sky for a helicopter tour to see some epic gardens, so we took them up on their offer…and it did not disappoint! After enjoying the beautiful coastline views, we headed inland to the forests that are known for being “the heartland of outdoor cannabis cultivation.”
Growing Exposed hydroponics expert, Justin, and Michael from Royal Gold, take viewers with them as they absorb the beauty of the area while discussing the awesome people who work in the cannabis industry. From the air, we see the sheer size of our first garden; which has been using Green Planet nutrients, and has an incredible hedge that specifically showcases Liquid Weight and Massive Bloom Formulation. Each garden in today’s tour uses Royal Gold soil, which is proudly made in Humboldt.
At our first of three garden tours we meet Ronzo, an old school local grower who spoke to us about the age-old game of cat and mouse played over the years between growers and authorities. His plants are some of the most sought after in Humboldt, and include a variety that is 20% CBD to 1% THC and is extremely rare. This strain is being used by cancer and epilepsy patients and has countless medicinal benefits. We also took an up close look at lemon, a strain with an incredible Terpene profile that smells just amazing.
In teachings of the garden sage…David Robinson, author of The Growers Handbook, discusses the principle needs of growing cannabis whether you’re growing indoors or out. When growing outdoors you’re relying a lot on Mother Nature for sunlight, etc. and hopefully Mother Nature is consistent to produce the highest quality flower possible. David gives tips on how using Back Country Blend will supply plants with the nutrients they need. He also explains how important it is for growers to find the right strain for their specific environment when growing outdoors.
Our next garden, Quantum Genetics, is on a traditional piece of farmland and is in a full light deprivation green house, manufactured by Forever Flowering Greenhouses. This set up allows growers to maintain consistency all year round. We hear about how their light set up works and get a VIP look at their baby room, not to mention the forty feet trailer packed full of drying cannabis! Unique to this garden, is their family of ducks, who happily munch on leftover trim; making cannabis infused eggs!
Finally, we head back up to the hills for our final tour at Indra Valley Strategic Marketing Group. The plants at this garden grow to over 15 feet tall and have stalks up to three or four inches thick. These big, monster plants are the definition of the emerald triangle at its finest, and are why Humboldt is known for being one of the best possible places to grow outdoors. We see for ourselves, the famous Girl Scout Cookies and OG Kush. We also learn more about how the extraction process works and the garden’s automated light deprivation setup.

What you will need in order to make your own Cannabis oil are the following: Cannabis or hemp plant material (dried and shredded), glass bowls, plastic spoon, alcohol (over 60% pure), Sieve, coffee machine, several Coffee filters (depending on how much material you have to process), water distiller or rice cooker or pan and hot plate
paperclip, cigarette lighter.
Make your own Cannabis oil at home, EASILY by following few easy steps. The first step consists of putting the cannabis plant material into a bowl and covering it with cold alcohol. Next, you will need to stir for three minutes with the plastic spoon and then sieve the mixture into another bowl. Then, filter the mixture through a coffee filter and distil the liquid until 80% of the alcohol volume has gone. If you use a rice cooker or hot plate to evaporate the alcohol, it is better to do this outside. Don’t forget however that the fumes are very flammable and could explode. Afterward, pour the remaining liquid into a small bowl and make sure you heat on the coffee machine hot plate for 24 hours in order to remove the remaining alcohol. The final step is to take a paperclip, dip it in the oil and try lighting it with a flame. If a spark occurs there is still alcohol left so you should place it back on the coffee machine for a few more hours.
If you would like to store the oil, draw it up into a medical syringe and keep it in your fridge.

GROWING EXPOSED SEASON 2 EPISODE 3: Northwest Grown

Northwest Grown is located on a unique century old cattle ranch that has been converted into an indoor marijuana growing facility. Now usually indoor growing facilities aren’t known for being welcoming but this property has been around for five generations and is just beautiful. The picturesque 120-acre hobby farm in Washington State features several red barns and even a stream.
Our resident hydroponics expert, Justin meets Kyle, the cultivation manager at Northwest Grown for a tour around this incredible property and approximately 260 light garden. They begin their tour in the mother room. Here we see not only mothers and cuttings but also seedlings, which will form the future of the garden. Kyle explains they have an entire room dedicated to looking for phenos and how they are always looking for that keeper seed that will set them apart from the other grows in Washington.
Kyle then shows Justin how they flood the baby cuttings to eliminate hand watering and save much needed time and energy. It is a full flood and drain system that supports their big library featuring thirty-six genetics, and thirty-six different mothers.
Next stop is the veg room where we check out their mango stream; an heirloom afghani crossed with an OG based out of Northern California that has been in Kyle’s family for years with a huge terpene profile. It grows like a sativa and is known as a jumper plant. Kyle explains it’s all about the terpene profile. At Northwest Grown they average around 5-7% terpene profiles and Kyle shared that he uses the GP3 Green Planet series and massive bloom formulation to achieve these dynamite results.
